Hay! Hay! and More Hay!

  • Congratulations to Olivia Lanier's family.  Dylan Jackson James arrived at 7lbs. 11oz.  Olivia is the new "big sister."
  • Congratulations on getting your re-enrollment cards returned.
  • Thank you to all of the parents who came for a visit last Friday.  We hope you enjoyed your time with us.
  • We have had a great time using the Mimio with the children.  It is a great interactive tool.  The children get really excited when it is their turn to choose the correct answer.
  • The class list, snack menu and schedule have all been updated this week.  Please use this class list when fixing the Valentines.
  • It is okay if your child wishes to bring a book to school.  Please make sure their name is in the book.  We will read two or three each day and they may take them home in the afternoon.
  • On Tuesday, Febraury 14th during our morning snack, we will have our Valentine party.  The children will decorate their own cookies and have pretzels and juice.  Parents are welcome to come, but it isn't like our other parties.  The children will exchange valentines.  It would be very helpful to have all valentines by Monday morning,13th.  It takes a little while to sort through about 1600 valentines. :) Please see the updated class list on the left-side of this page.
    • Each child will need a valentine box or bag to receive valentines from the other children.
    • Please make sure your child's name is clearly marked and easily seen on their container.
    • Please make sure you have "to _____" and "from ____" on each valentine.
    • It would be very helpful if you would seperate the valentines by boys from girls and then put in alphabetical order.
    • This would make it so much easier to distribute.  Thank you for your help.
  • THOUGHT OF THE WEEK: "When an arguement flairs up, the wise man quenches it with silence."
    •

      PARENT CORNNER

With many of our children already turning four, I thought it would be good to pass along some expectations to their new age.

  • Four- year- olds are energetic and imaginative.  They often learn new words quickly and use them in chatting with others, telling jokes, and sharing wild stories.
  • Preschoolers are curious and want to understand their world - how things work and what makes them happen. They also want to be more self-reliant.
  • Four-year-olds have a strong need to feel important and worthwhile. Praise is one of the most important and needed tools in the development of four-year-olds.
  • This is a critical stage for building self esteem.  Let your child know you're proud of his learning.  Providing a warm supportive environment is the key.  As your child discovers that learning is fun, he will become more self-motivated.
  • The four-year-old is building a foundation for school days.  We need to make that foundation strong and filled with exciting learning opportunities that your child will embrace.
  • The best learning is often done through play, arts and crafts, singing songs, reading, and creative, hand-on play.

       INCENTIVE CLUBS

Several of the children have been inspired and have joined the clean-plate club,  all-star club and the button & zipper club.

To encourage the children to try new foods and to eat more veggies, we have a "clean plate club".

To encourage the children to strive for yellow bears each day,we have  an "all-star club".  This means a child has earned a yellow bear for 5 days in a row, Mon-Fri. EIGHTEEN children were in the ALL-STAR CLUB this week! Way to go!!

( We will continue to have a trip to the treasure box for every 5 yellow bears.  For some children it may take more than five days to accomplish this and that is okay too.)

Congratulations!  All of the children can put their coats on by themselves and all but just a few can zip and button.  Wow! What a great accomplishment. We would also like to encourage the children to conquer the snaps and buttons on their pants.
