Handwriting Although there is no handwriting assigned for homework, please encourage your child to practice correct cursive formation when writing at home. Please refer to the "Cursive Formation Guide" and "Correct Hand Position" guides sent home the first day of school. The grading system we use for handwriting is as follows: S+ Fantastic - Perfect Paper S Good Job - Needs a little improvement S- Acceptable - Needs Improvement N Needs Improvement U Unacceptible - Messy and shows little effort
Reading Thank you for working with your little one in this very important area! Please remember that a "C" reader is an average reader, a "B" reader is above average, and an "A" reader is an advanced reader. A "C" grade at the beginning of the year is normal. The reading grade includes oral reading, reading comprehension and AR. Good oral reading should be smooth, fluent and have natural expression. A good reader is also one who can read silently and comprehend. All this improves with practice.
