Squirrel's Club deposits are the second Tuesday of every month during our lunch time.

CiCi's gives a portion of their profits to WCA on the second Tuesday of every month.  If you put my name on the back of the receipt, we get the chance to win a pizza party.

If you do not have a church home, I would like to invite you to visit here at Grace.  Our Sunday School begins at 9:15, and church starts at 10:30.  We have programs for children. On Wednesday  nights we have classes for all ages. For 3 year olds - 5th grade we have our Kids 4 Truth program.  Wednesday night church starts at 6:30 and ends at 8:00 .

New this week:

Permission slips for end of year party are due the 18th.

FIELD DAY REMINDERS FOR YOU OLD ONES
AND INFO FOR THE NEW ONES!

1.  If you did not order a lunch by last Friday you will need to provide your child's lunch.  ( As soon as we have a schedule I will let you know the times.)
2.  Slather (if that truly is not a word, I apologize) your child with sunscreen.
3.  Pack them water to drink.  It can get very hot.
4.  Send a towel for them to sit on.
5.  All parents are welcome.
6.  They need tennis shoes for the running games.  Flip-flops are good for the games where we are playing in the ooky stuff.
7.  Some students like to wear bathing suits under their clothes (girls) or as their shorts.  We do tend to get WET and DIRTY.
8.  Girls must wear shorts to the knee and not tight fitting.  Blue jean or heavy material is not recommended.  I used to buy my daughter a pair of boys basketball shorts.  They were light weight and long.
9.  Each child will have a field day t-shirt.  If we get them on Wednesday I will send them home, if not have them wear another t-shirt to school and we will change Thursday morning before the adventure begins.
10.  If your child is staying for daycare they may bring a change of clothes in case they are extremely dirty.
11. Lost and found is huge on this day.  Please label all items.
12.  I will have a cooler for their water bottles.  Put a name on these also.  We do not want to share germs.

Our times table competition ends May 24th.  The party for those who have completed all their times tables.  If at all possible I do need the following items for toppings.  (We do not need them until  May 25th.)  Strawberry, Chocolate, Caramel, Canned Whipped Topping, Crushed Oreos, M&Ms, or anything you can think of. I will send home a sign to see what you could bring.  Thank you to the few who emailed me .

As of Thursday, May 10 the following people have qualified for the party:  Taylor, Catherine, Carolina, Caleb W., Ella,  Caroline, Shelby, Reagan, Eli ,Dustin and Abby.

Some are making no attempt to compelte their facts.  Please practice nightly and encourage them to finish.  This is not just for the reward of ice cream.  This is a necessary concept they need to have mastered before 4th grade.

I am making it a 75 point grade.  Points will be given for the amount they complete.  Even if they cannot complete the whole thing they do need to say as many as they can so they don't hurt their grade.

BOOK In A BAG dates:
May 21     Caleb C., Caroline, Kyra, Shelby, Catherine
May 22     Gabe, Ella, Ruthie, Aaliya, Caleb W.
May 23     Carolina, Dustin, Austin, Christopher, Reagan
May 24     Alex, Emma, Taylor, Abby, Alan
May 25     Jamie, Eli, Anastasia

May AR is required. Your child must read one chapter book at their reading level (no picture books). The test will be worth 100 points. Please have them read carefully as this test is a comprehension test on the book they have read. Have them tell you about the book and/or ask questions about the book. The test cannot be retaken if they do not score well. They may read another AR book and take a test. I will take the higher score for that month.

Don't forget to visit Renaissance Home Connect to see how your child did on their AR test. You can click on the "Click to Open in New Window" (found on the bottom right of the Renaissance website page) to search for AR books and you can see the book level as well.

Morning Drop-Off -- If you drop your child off before the 8:00 bell please take them to the cafeteria.  We are getting reports of students being dropped off under the carport and waiting unsupervised. This is for the safety of your child.  You are welcome to sit in the parking lot with your child and wait for the doors to open.  Do not park under the carports please.  These are to be used  for a drive through drop-off only.

  WEBSITES TO CHECK OUT

Don't forget to visit Renaissance Home Connect.  This is a great way to
see how your child is doing.

www.spellingcity.com/BHayden
This site will take you to our Spelling lists.  We will take two weeks to cover one unit. The first week will be spelling words only, and week two is a vocabulary test over the first ten words.  The vocab words can be found in the Sadlier Oxford book.  (Use the definitions from the book and not the website.  The website only gives you one definition per word.)  My recomendation is to not wait until the second week to start learning the vocabulary words.

www.ixl.com
This site allows you to practice math problems.

www.mathfactcafe.com
Has flashcards, great way to review!

http://www.sadlier-oxford.com/vocabulary/levels_a2h.cfm?sp=family
Play games with the original 10 vocab words from our list.  We are level green.  If you need an access code, it is on one of the front pages of your child's vocabulary book. (left hand side of the page about 3/4 of the way down the page)

http://kids4truth.com/Devos/Home.aspx
If you don't have a family devotional plan and don't know where to begin... this is a great page.  Visit k4t.com for other neat stuff.  This corresponds with our Wednesday night kids program, but the website and devotional are great resources of their own.

www.superteacherworksheets.com is a great site to use for extra help.
