Valentine's Day Party on February 14th at 1:30 p.m. Please decorate one bag or shoebox. The class list is located in the red section. I will have a decorating contest. There will be 3 different categories: Most Patriotic, Craziest, and Prettiest. I will have someone come and judge and the winners will be announced at the party. A small gift will be given to the winners. Have fun!
Please let me know if you can bring something to our Valentine's party on the 14th. Items needed: dessert (please specify), cheese cubes, vegetables, fruit, chips. Please let me know if your child would like to sign-up for our Elementrary Fine Arts piano solo, vocal, and/or strings competition. The date of the in-house competition is February 24th at 8:30 a.m.
If you want to send a special treat for birthdays, please tell me in advance. A carb count of the treat would be helpful as well. This is important information I need to share with Meg and her family. There are times she may have a treat as long as we know ahead of time and have the carb count to help adjust her insulin intake. Also, Paige is allergic to the food dye- blue #1. Thank you so much.

Kids 4 Truth The kids love chapel time every Wednesday with Pastor Monty. He is also in charge of our Kids 4 Truth on Wednesday evenings. Kids 4 Truth is a terrific website to visit and even has a great family devotional.

Accelerated Reader February AR is required. Your child must read one chapter book at their reading level (no picture books). The test will be worth 100 points. Please have them read carefully as this test is a comprehension test on the book they have read. Have them tell you about the book and/or ask questions about the book. The test cannot be retaken if they do not score well. They may read another AR book and take a test. I will take the higher score for that month.
I will not be able to offer AR extra points starting in February.
Don't forget to visit Renaissance Home Connect to see how your child did on their AR test. You can click on the "Click to Open in New Window" (found on the bottom right of the Renaissance website page) to search for AR books and you can see the book level as well.
Here are some wonderful websites to visit to help reinforce and build upon our skills. You can pick the skill and work 20 free problems once a day. A great site to practice addition, subtraction, and multiplication math facts. You will need to visit Spelling City for Unit 10 spelling words. This site will take you to our Spelling lists. Please click on Mrs. Hayden's name for the spelling lists. The Sadlier Oxford book has only ten words so please go to Spelling City for the entire list. We will take two weeks to cover one unit. The first week will be spelling only and week two will be vocabulary over the first ten words. The vocab words can be found in the Sadlier Oxford book. (Use the definitions from the book and not the website. The website only gives you one definition per word.) My recommendation is to not wait until the second week to start learning your vocabulary words. This website is an online component to support and extend each unit for spelling/vocabulary. Make sure you select 2011 version, the green book, and student. Click on “Go To”. From there, you will only need the access code on the copyright page of your child’s vocabulary workshop book and a valid email address to create your own account. http://www.superteacherworksheets.com/ is a great site to use for extra help.

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
