1. Valentine's Party - Tuesday, February 14th at 2:15. Please check the class list on the right side for classmates' names. If students bring valentines, they must bring one for everyone in our homeroom. They are welcome to bring any for special friends in Miss Young's class, but children do not have to bring one for everyone in her class. We are just going to exchange valentines and have snacks in our own rooms, so we do not need parents to help during the party. If you are willing to donate any of the following items, please let me know. 1. A salty snack - bag of chips, pretzels, etc. 2. Small plates 3. Napkins 2. We have the next several weeks for students to take their academic tests. The tests are on the computer, and students have 90 minutes to complete them. Miss Young and I will schedule our students and send a copy of it home with your child at the beginning of next week. If you know ahead of time your child has an appointment coming up, please let us know so we can schedule he or she on a different day. 3. Pi Day at Cape Fear Museum - Wednesday, March 14th from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon. Chaperones are needed to take small groups of 5 children around to the various activity stations. The students have learned the 6 steps of division. (Divide, multiply, subtract, compare, bring down, and if you can bring down start the steps over again) These steps will greatly help the students with long division. Here are some websites that you can use to review the multiplication and division facts. Sheppard Software has some measurement review games on it too. www.mrnussbaum.com/mathgames.htm http://multiplication.com/interactive_games.htm www.sheppardsoftware.com Please let me know if your child is struggling with something at home so that I can work with them on the concept at school.
History I will start assigning students pages to do in their notebook this week. Pages 7, 9, and 11 will be due Mon., Feb. 13. Click here for information about the state notebook.
