Christmas Song - Spanish Jingle Bells

"When you know another language you can have twice as many friends!"

PreK-5th Grade Spanish

Why Spanish?

Spanish is one of the top four languages in the world, along with English, Hindi, and Chinese. Learning the Spanish language benefits students in multiple ways: it increases their grammatical understanding of English, broadens their understanding of different cultures, helps them more easily meet requirements for higher education, heightens their marketablility in the workplace, and enables them to communicate with millions of people across the world. Our goal is to give our students the skills they need in order to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world and effectively serve and use their gifts and abilities to glorify God.

Students begin with the basics of Spanish by learning numbers 1-10, colors, and simple vocabulary and commands. They enjoy learning about various hispanic countries and cultures and play interactive games that reinforce what they are learning. Choco, the hedgehog puppet, is always bringing encouragement and excitement to the learning environment as he helps make speaking Spanish a fun activity.

Elementary Spanish:

Beginning in first grade, students have the opportunity to choose their own Spanish name. Throughout their Spanish studies, this name will help them to really make learning Spanish a positive and personal experience. All students begin the year by reviewing numbers and colors along with basic conversational dialogue. They become more excited about speaking in Spanish as they develop a wider range of vocabulary and as they better understand  proper sentence structure through dialogue and interactive lessons. Students are able to comprehend simple stories and hold basic conversations with  their friends. They also gain an appreciation for people of different cultures and an interest in hispanic countries. Choco, the hedgehog puppet, is always around to help students realize that learning another language takes some work, but it can be a lot of fun too!

Yearbook

This course enables students to work as a team to create a book that serves as a historical record of the events, activities, and accomplishments of the year. The finished product also serves as a public relations tool and fosters a sense of pride among students, faculty and staff. Being part of the production process can be exciting and fun, but it also takes hard work and a commitment to excellence.

Photography

This course enables students to understand the principles of design and how they apply to digital photography, thus helping them to develop basic skills and creative approaches in photographic imagery, processes, and techniques. It provides for a study of photography as a visual communication, which can be discussed in terms of technical as well as aesthetic qualities. Above all, each student learns how he can positively use photography as a means of showing Christ to the world through his own personal testimony and the excellence of his work.
