     Brief Description of Class Subjects

Class Procedures & Grading Policies:

The class grading procedure is based on classwork/homework, quizes, tests, and major/minor projects.  The grading system is established to reward the student for his/her study and hard work.  Encourage your child to do all of the written homework, classwork, and weekly projects. These will impact your child's grade.  The grade is based on a point system, not a percent.  As an example, if your child earns 90 points out of 100 points total, your child would receive a 90%.

Supplies Needed:

The supplies needed in History will be colored pencils, construction paper for weekly current events, and loose leaf notebook paper.  For the Bible classes each student will need a KJV version of the Bible.

Special Events & Projects:

8th grade:

There will be a field trip in November for the 8th grade U.S. History class. This is an exciting trip to Williamsburg/Jamestown/Yorktown where colonial America comes to life. We will have a blast! More information about this trip will come in October.

I will also require a biographical sketch this year on historical leaders that we will be discussing in class. This will usually be no more than one typed page, but will encourage a detailed study on individuals of the students choice.  I will give the student more information as we talk about the project.

I am looking forward to a Great Year in 2011-2012!!!
