Resource Learning Program

Purpose:  To provide appropriate specialized educational services for children with verifiable learning disabilities

Program Guidelines:

  • This program supplements and reinforces classroom instruction for students who have been diagnosed with a verifiable learning disability by a qualified professional. In certain circumstances students with severe academic deficits may be admitted to the program for short-term, intensive remediation.
  • Students will be accepted and scheduled for the Resource Program based on appropriate testing and written evaluation by a qualified professional.  After acceptance into the Resource Program, an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) will be created for the student or an existing IEP will be approved.  The IEP will list the student’s specific disabilities and summarize strengths, weaknesses and ability levels and state the educational goals, objectives/benchmarks, services to be received and location of those services, and classroom modifications and accommodations for the student.
  • The IEP team (classroom teacher, resource teacher, division principal and parent) will meet to discuss the IEP before it is drafted or implemented.
  • Resource Center personnel will coordinate educational modifications and accommodations in the mainstream classroom for students accepted in the Resource Program, monitor the student’s achievement and communicate regularly with parents.
  • The Resource Center personnel will be responsible for assigning all homework, assessments, and grades for the classes students attend in the Resource Center.
  • After a student is accepted and enrolled in the Resource Program, the cost of the program will be added to the student’s annual tuition and will be distributed equally based on the payment plan selected by the family.
  • Special accommodations in the mainstream classroom will only be afforded to those children who have a valid IEP and are enrolled in the Resource Program.
