Wilmington Christian Academy offers the best, most comprehensive summer camp program in the Wilmington area. Excellent facilities, caring, professional teachers, and enthusiastic coaches create an enjoyable summer experience at WCA that will be remembered for years to come.

Volleyball Camp

Date: June 2 - 5

Cost: $100 (Due the first day of camp)

Grades: 4th-8th Graders

Times:

     Monday & Tuesday

     3:00pm - 6:00pm

General Information

The camp will be conducted on two separate courts to accommodate skill levels. Each day will be divided into two sessions with a 15-minute break between the sessions. Campers will be given a camp t-shirt.

Daily Instruction

Instruction and drills covering passing, setting, spiking, blocking, defensive and offensive systems, serving and game play.

Competitions

Thursday’s schedule will be entirely game play where campers will use the skills they have learned. Prizes will be given after Thursday’s session.

Cardio for Kids 1

Date: June 9-12

Cost: $100 (Due the first day of camp)

Ages: 5 - 8 Years Old

General Information

Being fit and healthy is important for all ages. Join us for strength training and cardio fitness. Learn how to make a fitness routine and stick with it. Set goals for yourself and achieve those goals. Learn how to make healthy and delicious snacks.

Tennis Camp

Date: June 16-19

Cost: $100 (Due the first day of camp)

Grades: 3rd-8th

Times: 8:00am - 11:00am

General Information

Your serve! Have you ever picked up a tennis racket and hit the ball? If not, we will teach you how to play the game. Even if you already know how to play, you will learn how to be better at the things that will make you a winner on the court! Don’t forget the fun games, snacks, and recreation time!

Soccer Camp

Date: June 23 - 26

Cost: $100 (Due the first day of camp)

Times:

    3rd - 5th Graders
     6th - 8th Graders
     8:00am - 11:00am
     12:30pm - 3:30pm

Daily Instruction

Fundamentals in dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, and game strategy will be emphasized.

Competitions

After drills, players will practice those skills in fun games such as line soccer, soccer golf, etc. Prizes will be given. Campers will be given a camp t-shirt.

Game Play

Each day’s sessions will end with team games. Tournament, small-sided, and indoor matches will bring each day to a great end!

Basketball Camp

Date: June 30 - July 3

Cost: $100 (Due the first day of camp)

Times:

    2nd - 4th Graders
     5th - 8th Graders
     8:00am - 11:00am
     12:30pm - 3:30pm

Daily Instruction

Fundamentals of ball handling, passing, shooting, footwork, man-to-man defense will be emphasized. Campers will receive a camp t-shirt.

Competitions

Competitions include one-on-one, free throw, three-on-three “cut throat”, and hot shot. Prizes will be given.

Game Play

Each team should get at least two 20-minute games per day.

Golf Camp

Date: July 14-16

Cost: $100 (Due the first day of camp)

Grades: 4th - 6th Grades

Times:  8:00 a.m. - noon

General Information

Golf Camp will focus on teaching individual and group lessons in swing techniques (fairway to chipping), ball striking, and course management. Players will receive instruction during private lessons on the driving range as well as the golf course. Prizes will be given for competition winners.

Cardio for Kids 2

Date: July 28 - 31

Ages: 9 - 13 Years Old

Week 1: June 9-12

Strike Up The Band!

Grades: 4th-6th     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Get a head start on beginner band at your school! All young people are invited to take advantage of the opportunity to learn the basics of playing an instrument before school starts. Students will learn technique, musicianship, music reading, music theory, and performance etiquette. Camp will also include fun time, snack time, music games, and music appreciation. We will end the week with a pizza party!

Model Building (Woodworking 101)

Ages: 7-14 years     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Measure twice…cut once – the motto of a good woodworker. Come learn how to measure, cut, hammer, sand, and stain. We will be learning basic woodworking skills as we make model planes, cars, boats, etc.

Playing With My Food

Ages: 9-12 years     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Fun food activities, creations, and recipes that use very few large kitchen appliances. Fun and healthful snacks and lunch ideas will be included.

Cookies, Cookies, Cookies!

Ages: 7-14 years     Time: 12:30pm-4:30pm

Learn to follow recipes, mix, and bake delicious cookies. With learning basic baking skills, campers will be able to whip up the best chocolate chip cookies, snicker doodles, and more. The best part is they get to eat the results!

 

Week 2: June 16-19

Play Dough Magic

Ages: 4-6 years     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Make your own play dough, create with your own play dough, and eat your own play dough. We will be having lots of fun smashing, squeezing, pounding, and creating lots of play dough art.

Patterns, Numbers & Design

Grades: 5th-8th     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

We will explore patterns in math and geometry and use those patterns to create designs. We will look at the works of famous artists and ancient mosaics. We will make our own string art and tiling projects.

Experiments that Fizz, Crack, Ooze & Pop

Ages: 7-14 years     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

This camp showcases important scientific concepts through fun and stimulating experiments. Students take home projects and detailed worksheets. Learn Boyle’s Law of air pressure with a potato gun launcher. Make elephant toothpaste and learn about catalysts. Dive into buoyancy and density. Find out the ‘magic’ in levitation. Explore the fizz in dry ice, get familiar with Newton and his laws, learn about polymers, dissect diapers, make fake snow,and many more imaginative and fun experiments.

Woodworking for Girls

Ages: 8-14 years     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Come build 18” American Girl® doll furniture. You can be as creative as you want.

Candy Land

Ages: 7-14 years     Time: 12:30pm-4:30pm

Come learn the art of making candy. From single to more complex recipes, campers will create the best-ever caramel popcorn, dreamy fudge, and more. Instructions in measuring and mixing will produce varieties of sweet treats to share and eat.

 

Week 3: June 23-26

Intermediate Band Camp

Grades: 5th-8th     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Summer music fun is what band camp is all about! Students will play exciting music, explore music theory, and discover music history along the way. Camp will also include fun time, snack time, music games, and music appreciation. We will end the week with a concert and a pizza party!

String Camp

Grades: 1st-8th     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Want a great way to give yourself an edge in the next school year? Violinists, violists, and cellists, come and join us for a fun week of music. Group activities and individual training will be for everyone. You will be given the tools to become a better musician and have fun in the process!

Harp Camp

Grades: 3rd-8th     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Are you a harpist? Come join us for an exciting week of harp music! Enjoy making music with other harpists, receive individual training, and improve your musical skills.

Math Camp

Ages: 7-14 years     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Looking for a chance to strengthen and reinforce skills learned during the school year? This class is for you! Students will revisit and review grade- level skills in this fun interactive course! Campers will play math games, solve mathematical puzzles, and much more!

Best Brownies & Bars

Ages: 7-14 years     Time: 12:30pm-4:30pm

Everybody loves warm brownies right out of the oven. Campers, come learn the basics in baking, learn how to follow recipes, and create chocolate brownies, blonde brownies, lemon bars, and more. Every recipe has been taste-tested and guaranteed to delight even the pickiest taste buds.

 

Week 4: June 30 - July 3

Kitchen Cabinet Biology

Ages: 7-14 years     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

You are what you eat: that is the chemicals we eat. This exciting camp will draw the student into the idea of food chemistry. Senses and use of the Scientific Method will be incorporated. Topics such as water, sugars, proteins and fats will all be discussed and rediscovered in a different light! What does high fructose corn syrup really mean, and what are all those names on the side of my food that I cannot pronounce?

Check Mate! Chess Camp

Ages: 8-14 years     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Hone strategic skills and analytical thinking at chess camp. Campers will enjoy the thrill of competition while they enrich their minds in a timeless, classic endeavor.

Bow Boot Camp

Grades: 4th-6th     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Are you a girl that likes to accessorize? Then join the Fairy Bow Mother for a crash course in bow making. Girls will learn how to make floral hairclips, basic boutique bows, school spirit bows, and much more!

Duct Tape Creations

Ages: 5-9 years     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Wallets, jewelry, flowers and more will be among the fun things we make with wonderfully colored duct tape. Stick with us to see what fun we will have making duct tape creations.

Perfect Pies

Ages: 7-14 years     Time: 12:30pm-4:30pm

Master the art of creating incredible pies: flakey crusts, fruit pies, cream pies, pumpkin pies, and more! Follow recipes, measure, mix, and bake up a different pie to take home and devour each day.

 

Week 5: July 7-10

I’ve Got Rhythm!

Ages: 8-14 years     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

This percussion ensemble opportunity is for all those who enjoy music and want to improve their understanding of rhythm. We will be playing drums, cymbals, handbells, woodblocks, xylophones, bells, wind chimes, just to name a few. It will be a week you won’t want to miss!

Shake It Up!

Ages: 4-5 years     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

All 4-5 year olds come and join the fun in the music room! There will be singing, dancing, and lots of activities. Scarves, instruments, and games will help us explore the world of music and movement!

Budding Biologist

Ages: 7-14 years     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

CRICKETS, MEAL WORMS, HERMIT CRABS, FISH – If animals fascinate you, this is your camp. This camp showcases a wide spectrum of animals and is designed for children who are fascinated with animal biology. We’ll study the life cycle and habitat, as well as functions and parts of meal worms, super worms, earthworms, insects (crickets), beetles (lady bugs), hermit crabs, rodents (guinea pigs), mollusks (land and sea snails, slugs); explore marine biology with blue crabs, mussels, fish and squid; and many more. Campers can take home meal worms, crickets, and lady bugs.

Computer Craze

Ages: 8-14 years     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Come to computer camp and learn how to create and design your own blog page with pictures, videos, and much more. Each camper will have a professional looking blog by the end of the week.

Awesome Bread Baking

Ages: 8-14 years     Time: 12:30pm-4:30pm

There is no better smell than freshly baked bread. Come experience using yeast, grinding your own flour, adding wholesome ingredients and kneading bread to perfection. We will learn to bake whole wheat, French, sourdough breads, and more. Add some creamy butter and we’ll almost be in heaven.

 

Week 6: July 14-17

Lego® Cars Around the World

Ages: 6-9 years     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Come build your way around the world. We will take the classic cars characters as well as landmarks that will take us around the world. Crafts, snacks and computer activities will be added as pit stops throughout the day.

Disney Music Camp

Calling all third through fifth graders! Have you ever wished you could sing and act out some of your favorite scenes from movies like Frozen and Toy Story? Come join in the fun of Disney Daze and make new friends while singing and acting!

Building an Electric Bike

Ages: 7-14 years     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Join us for fun turning an ordinary bike into an electric one! Learn the basics of electric vehicles by working with batteries, charge controllers, and motors to make our bike move to the flow of electrons. By the end we will have a working electric bike to ride.

Discover Wilmington!

Ages: 7-14 years     Time: 12:30pm-4:30pm

Be a “history detective” as we explore the top sights of Wilmington! We will visit the Battleship, explore Southport and Fort Fisher, tour Bellamy Mansion and Airlie Gardens, and visit the Railroad Museum. Every day will be an adventure you won’t want to miss!

Sweet Breads for All

Ages: 7-14 years     Time: 12:30pm-4:30pm

Do you love fresh, wholesome apple cakes, southern corn breads, banana breads and more? Learn how to follow recipes, measure, mix, and bake sweet breads everyone will enjoy. Campers will leave with their own recipe collection and the skills to create at home.

 

Week 7: July 21-24

Camp Learn-a-Lot

Grades: 2nd-3rd     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Has the summer boredom set in? Then Camp Learn-a-Lot is the place for all you kids looking forward to second and third grade! We will be reviewing our phonics, reading, and math with awesome games and interactive whiteboard activities. Returning campers will love all the new things! Camp Learn-a-Lot is guaranteed to chase that summer boredom away and get you ready for school! You won’t want to miss it!

Guitar Camp

Grades: K5-8th     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Expand chord knowledge, strum patterns, tablature reading, note reading, and much more! Every day will include basic music theory lessons and games. We will end the week with a concert and a pizza party!

Pampered Princess Spa Time

Grades: 5th-6th     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

During the week we will talk about the importance of skin care and hygiene. We will also do some facials as well as manicures. Campers will make their own lip gloss and body scrubs to take home too!

Medical Madness

Ages: 7-14 years     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

How the body works (and doesn’t)! This camp is an introduction to various systems of our body and how they work. Children will be exposed to basic anatomy.

Fiesta Breads

Ages: 7-14 years     Time: 12:30pm-4:30pm

Party time! Let’s learn to make cinnamon rolls, pastry rings, sweet rolls, and more. We’ll begin with basic baking instructions and go creative from there. Starting from scratch, we’ll use fresh yeast, flour, spices, fruits, icings, and create beautiful and delicious baked goodies for entertaining.

 

Week 8: July 28-31

Kindergarten Korner

Ages: Rising K5 Children Only     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Calling new kindergartners to Kindergarten Korner! Dust off the summer cobwebs! Join us for phonics, reading and math review to get a jumpstart on kindergarten. We will review through hands-on activities, games, and much more. Come get a jumpstart for a successful transition to kindergarten!

Rainbow Loom Jewelry Camp

Grades: 4th-5th     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

Do you like to make bracelets with the Rainbow Loom? This camp will show you how to make the fishtail bracelet, the starburst bracelet, a few charms and a few complex designs too! If you have a loom, feel free to bring it. Bands will be provided.

Lego® Star Wars Adventure

Ages: 9-14 years     Time: 8:00am-12:00pm

The force will have to be with us as we put together the spacecrafts of the Star Wars adventures. New Star Wars sets will be added to the galaxy of those from years past. Come plan to go to the outer reaches of space. We will also have space snacks, space crafts and maybe a computer game or two.

Jump Start to 1st Grade

Calling all new first graders! Dust off the summer cobwebs! Get ready for first grade through phonics, reading, math, and writing review. We will review through hands-on activities, games, fun reading and writing activities. You will love the Mimio interactive activities! Get a jumpstart to first grade!

Pizza! Pizza!

Ages: 7-14 years    Time: 12:30pm-4:30pm

Campers, come learn how to make pizzas from scratch! Starting with homemade pizza dough, we will learn each day to bake different pizzas by adding toppings, sauces and cheeses to astound family and friends.
